5. Buford Pusser - Walking Tall
Sheriff of McNairy County, Tenessee, Buford Pusser walked tall and carried a big stick. He survived 8 shootings and 7 stabbings but was killed in a car accident on his way home from the county fair. His daughter and her friends came upon the accident just moments after it happened.

6. Murder of Shanda Sharer
Shanda Sharer was just 12 years old when she was brutally tortured and burned alive by four other girls.

7. Hanoi Hilton
The Hoa Lo prison in North Viet Nam was known as the Hanoi Hilton by the American POW's there during the Viet Nam war. Don't let the name fool you though. It was far from a comfortable room at the famous hotel chain.
